Almost didn't go in, but I'm glad we did. Moderately priced sushi place with a great selection of items. The deep fried squid was very good, and the fish tasted fresh. The sunomono however was lacking in the signature sweet/sour taste. The lighting was less than optimal for food photography but we made do with what we had. This place is very tucked away if you don't have google maps out but worth seeking out.

I’ve come here many times now and I’m starting to explore more of the menu items. My sons love to eat the prawn tempuras with the chicken fried rice or Oyako-donburi. My wife and I love the Uni with salmon roe on rice but I also love the chirashi and tuna don. The additional pickled items, sliced egg and seaweed add a little flair to the dishes. Whenever we’re in the area and can’t decide what to eat we come here. It’s very accommodating to our young kids and I can catch up on sports with the projection TV set up here.

Environment friendly Japanese restaurant with reasonable price. My 7-year-old son ordered a Beef Udon Soup, but I hesitated for a while because he always ended up with the beef and vegetables in the bowl. But......he finished all, and told me that he likes the beef in here!!! Of course, my 10-year-old son also enjoyed his Beef Teriyaki Roll. Definitely, we will go again.

Tried Japanese food for the first time in December. It was an amazing experience. Staff were really nice. Ambience was good, it was very cozy for the winter rainy evening. I’d definitely come back.

Had the Assorted Sashimi Set ($19.50) for dinner. The set came with a variety of items including miso soup, Dynamite and California rolls, sashimi, chicken teriyaki, tempura, sunomono and wakame salad. Value wise, it's not bad for what you get, especially with the sashimi. The portions of the salads and the rolls were smaller than what you might get at some other restaurants (in combo sets). Everything was tasty enough! The sashimi tasted fresh, and the tempura had a good batter that didn't leave the pieces greasy. The restaurant is tucked away on a side street so it's off busy 41st Ave. Would return if in the area!

One of the best Japanese restaurants to offer sushi, sashimi and bento boxes known as Jiu Jiang Sets. If you kept on 41st Ave and watch for lineups, you'll miss this little gem on Balsam. From the front, I thought it was a Chinese restaurant but was I pleasantly surprised. The menu had a lot of surprises. Monkfish liver and bluefin tuna are rare to find at most run of the mill sushi bars. Uni is missing but the chef assured me to come back in October for the best quality types. I ordered the assorted sashimi set and was surprised at the quality and value of the set. Aside from the freshest salmon, tuna, saba, hokigai and ebi, there was a piece of chicken teriyaki and tempura to top it off. Even a bowl of miso soup and California roll. Really wonderful. I can't stress the meal. It truly is the best value found in the Kerrisdale neighborhood. Try it out and it'll become your favorite too.
